What leaves your phone

PicText sends the picture you are working on. Extract Text, Translate and AI Commands send it over a secure connection to Google Cloud to be read, and the answer comes back to your phone. PicText keeps no copy of your picture or of the text on it. The app tells you this before you use it for the first time, and asks you to agree.

PDF to Text and the PDF Scanner work on your phone. The exceptions are a page you choose to Enhance or to Organize in PDF to Text: that single page, and nothing else, is sent the same way, and only when you ask for it.

What stays on your phone

• Your results. Recent results are saved on this phone and nowhere else, so you can open them again. You can turn that off with Settings, Privacy, Save history, and remove everything with Clear history.
• Details found on a page. Phone numbers, emails, links, addresses and dates are spotted by your phone itself, sent nowhere, and only used to offer you a one tap action.
• Your credit and your Pro state. Kept on the phone, tied to no name and no account.
• Your settings. Your language, your look and your switches stay on the phone.

PicText asks for no account and no sign up, so there is no profile of you anywhere.

Usage data and crash reports, on until you turn them off

PicText shares two things, and both start switched on. You can turn either off in the app's closing welcome step, before anything is sent, or at any time in Settings.

• Share usage data: which tools get used, never what is in your pictures.
• Share crash reports: tells us when the app stops working, so it can be fixed.

When they are on, an event records what was done: which tool was opened, how many pictures, whether it worked, how long it took, and which display style was used. An event never contains a picture, the text on it, a command you wrote, a translation, or a file name. The app's privacy label describes this as product interaction, crash data, performance data and other diagnostic data, none of it linked to your identity and none of it used to track you.

You can change your mind at any time in Settings, Privacy. Delete collected data in the same place removes what has not been sent yet, and unlinks this phone from what was, so nothing sent before can be tied back to it.

What PicText never collects

• No advertising identifiers, no ad tracking, no tracking across other apps or websites.
• No location.
• No contacts, and no calendar. A date on a page can be turned into an event, but that happens in Apple's own calendar screen, outside the app, and PicText never reads your calendar.
• No account, no name, no email address, unless you write to us yourself.
• No browsing of your photo library. The app only receives the pictures you choose.

Subscriptions and payment

PicText Pro is bought through Apple. Apple takes the payment, and PicText never sees your card, your Apple ID or your name. RevenueCat receives the purchase receipt and a code that stands for this copy of the app, tied to no name and no account, so the app knows that Pro is active on your devices.

Companies

Three companies are involved, each under its own terms:

• Google Cloud: reads the pictures the app sends, and returns the answer.
• Google Firebase: usage data and crash reports, while those switches are on.
• RevenueCat: unlocks and restores your subscription.

How long data is kept

• Your pictures and your text: PicText keeps no copy of either.
• Your results: on your phone only, for as long as you keep them. Clearing your history removes them, and so does removing the app.
• Subscription records: kept by Apple and by RevenueCat for as long as billing needs them.
• Usage data and crash reports: while you keep them on, and kept for the retention period of Google Firebase. Delete collected data unlinks this phone from what was sent.

Your choices, and where they are

• Settings, Privacy, Save history: keep recent results on this phone, or not.
• Settings, Privacy, Clear history: delete every saved result.
• Settings, Privacy, Share usage data: which tools get used, never what is in your pictures.
• Settings, Privacy, Share crash reports: tell us when the app stops working.
• Settings, Privacy, Delete collected data: remove what has been shared from this phone.
• Remove the app to stop everything and delete the results kept on your phone.

Security

Everything the app sends travels over a secure connection, and your results, your history and your scanned pages stay inside the app's own protected space on the phone.

Children

PicText is not made for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect anything from them. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has sent us personal information, please write to contact@goudri.com so it can be removed.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the app changes. The new version is posted on this page with a new effective date, so it is worth a look from time to time. Continuing to use the app means you accept the change.
